Nigerian Institute Of Quantity Surveyors Elects New Leaders

The Katsina State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors has conducted a unique election of new officials to run its affairs in the next two years.

This followed the expiration of the two year tenure of the state executives of the Institute.

The uniqueness of the election showed that only the offices of the Deputy Chairman and other executives of the Institute were contested with the exception of the office of the Chairman.

The system indicated that it is a single tenure and at the end of the tenure, the outgoing Defuty Chairman will automatically occupy the Office of the Chairman and other offices to be contested.

This is the system, and sequel to this, the outgoing Chairman QS  Naini Sa'idu will hand over  to Shamsuddeen Hassan who was his Deputy now to assume the office of the Chairman after their investiture coming up in January.

Declaring the results of the election, Chairman Electoral Committee QS Mi'iraj Abbas Rumah said a total of 87 voters were acredited and out of the 11offices contested, only office of the Treasurer was keenly contested by two candidates , while the remaining 10 were unopposed.

He said Shehu Sama'ila and Ashiru Sani contested for Treasurership, and Shehu Sama'ila scored 57 votes defeating Ashiru Sani with 30 votes.

The remaining 10 candidates that emerged unopposed include Hon. Abubakar Yahaya Kusada as Deputy Chairman, Kabir A Lawal General Secretary, Sabe Ahmed Bindawa Public Relations Secretary, Rabi'u Sada Zare Research & Dev Secretary and Kabir Bawale Nasiru Asst. General Secretary.

Others are Usman Sabo Nalado as Financial Secretary, Muntari Isyaku Welfare Secretary, Sabi'u Ibrahim Asst. Financial Secretary, Abdullahi Abdul'aziz Ex Officio 1 and Bature Muhammad Zahir Ex Officio 2.

Commenting on the Conduct of the election, the National Secretary on International Affairs of the Institure QS Tukur Abdulkarim expressed appreciation and registered his satisfaction over the transparency of the election and charged the newly elected officials to also be transparent.

In a remark, the outgoing Chairman of the State Chapter of the Institute QS Naini Sa'idu who expressed gratitude for the successful conduct of the election, explained that the investiture coming up in January will also be successful and attractive.
